Work Experience:

2004 – 2005 1 year industrial placement at 3t Products, a product design consultancy based in Southam, Warwickshire. During this time I worked in a small team of designers and my main areas of responsibility were concept generation and CAD modelling and rendering. Working with only a handful of others helped to improve my personal communication skills and also taught me to take everything in good humour. A selection of the work I produced at 3t, and some more current work can be found on my website.
2004 – 2000 Part-time work for Lodge Construction, where I would work as a labourer. Although not where my main interests lie, this job gave me invaluable experience in dealing with all aspects of building, from laying foundations and brickwork to tiling roofs.

Technical Skills:

Throughout the Industrial Design course at Loughborough and my year in industry at 3t I have gained experience in a broad range of design processes, from concept generation and development, to brand identity, manufacturing processes and CAD modelling and rendering. I chose a selection of modules on the course including Mechanics for Designers, Product Styling and Semantics, Computer Aided Modelling and Manufacture, and Internet and Interface Design. I felt that these modules gave me an understanding of many wide-ranging design aspects that have proved useful both at my time at 3t, and my final year of the course. I have become experienced in many 2D and 3D CAD applications, including; Solidworks, Pro-Engineer, Rhinoceros, 3D Studio Max, Maya, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash.

As a result of spending long hours at a desk during my placement, I decided to take up the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2005. Since completing it I have continued to run regularly, and also enjoy participating in other activities including football and swimming. I am also interested in computer modelling and animation, and have been practicing this whilst at university.
